About the app

Is Shahi Expense really free?
Yes — every feature is free, including GST invoicing, stock management, multi-payment settlement and reports. There's no paywall, premium plan, or trial period. The app may show occasional ads to keep it sustainable, but you can manage ad consent in Settings → Ad consent.
Do I need to sign up or create an account?
No. There's no sign-up, email, OTP or password. Install the app and start using it immediately. Your data lives only on your device.
Which platforms is the app available on?
Currently Android on Google Play. Windows and macOS desktop apps are coming soon — we'll announce on the homepage.
What languages are supported?
Four languages — English, हिंदी (Hindi), ગુજરાતી (Gujarati) and اردو (Urdu) — all screens fully translated as of v2.0.

Privacy & data

Where is my data stored?
All your financial data stays on your device. We don't run a cloud or sync server. Backups are JSON files that you control — save to Drive, Dropbox or email at your discretion.
Do you collect any personal information?
No. We don't collect names, GSTINs, contacts, transactions or any business data. Optional ads use only the Android Advertising ID, which can be reset by you in your phone settings.
Does the app work offline?
Yes — fully offline. Internet is only needed for live currency exchange rates and gold/silver prices in the Tools section. Last-fetched rates are cached for offline use.

GST & invoicing

Are invoices tax-compliant? Does it support GST, VAT and other taxes?
Yes. Invoices support GST (CGST + SGST intra-state, IGST inter-state, Cess) with HSN/SAC codes for India, plus configurable VAT or single-rate tax for the rest of the world. Your business tax ID (GSTIN, VAT number, ABN, EIN, etc.) and the customer's tax ID print on every invoice PDF.
Can I add my logo and signature to invoices?
Yes. Open Settings → Company Details to upload your logo and signature image. They appear on every invoice PDF automatically.
Can I add a UPI QR to invoices?
Yes — add your UPI ID under Settings → Invoice Settings → UPI. A scannable QR code prints on every invoice with the “Pay via UPI” label.
How do invoice numbers work?
Auto-generated using the prefix and format you configure under Invoice Settings → Numbering (e.g. INV/2025-26/0001). You can edit any number manually if you need to.

Payments & settlement

Can one payment cover multiple invoices?
Yes — both directions work. One payment of ₹50,000 can settle three invoices, and one ₹1L invoice can be settled with multiple part-payments over time.
What's a “Payment Account”?
A Cash or Bank account through which money flows. You can have one Cash and many Bank accounts (e.g. HDFC, SBI, ICICI). Each entry updates the balance of its linked account in real time.
Can I unlink a settlement if I made a mistake?
Yes. Open the payment → tap an applied invoice → choose Unlink. You can also Unsettle all to release the entire payment back to standalone status.

Stock & inventory

Does stock auto-deduct on every invoice?
Yes. When you save an invoice that includes a stock item, that quantity is automatically removed. If you delete or edit the invoice, the stock is correctly adjusted in reverse.
Can I get low-stock alerts?
Yes — set a per-item threshold. The dashboard shows a red badge with the number of items currently below threshold.

Backup & new device

How do I move my data to a new phone?
On the old phone: Settings → Backup & Restore → Export, then save the JSON file. On the new phone: install the app, open Backup & Restore → Import, pick that JSON file. Everything restores cleanly.
How often should I back up?
Weekly is a good rhythm for active businesses. The export takes seconds. Save backups to Drive or email so they survive even if the phone is lost.
Are receipt photos included in the backup?
The JSON backup includes references but not the image bytes. To preserve receipts, you can copy the receipts/ folder under app storage manually using a file manager.

Reports & export

Which formats can I export reports in?
PDF (with your logo and clean styling), Excel (.xlsx) and CSV. PDFs are perfect for client share; Excel/CSV for accountants or import into Tally/Zoho.
Can I customise the date range on reports?
Yes. Every report has Today / Week / Month / Year / Custom selectors, and most also offer party and category filters.

Help & support

How do I report a bug or request a feature?
Email anastiger098765@gmail.com with a clear description and (if possible) a screenshot. Most replies arrive within 24–48 hours.
The app crashed — what should I do?
Restart the app first. If the crash repeats, take a screenshot, note what you were doing, and email us. Your local data is safe — every entry is saved as you go.
