πŸ’° Chapter 3 β€” Cashbook

Track every rupee β€” in 5 seconds.

Log expenses and income with categories, payment modes, parties and receipt photos. The built-in calculator means you never have to switch apps for a quick total.

Add an expense or income entry

Open Cashbook from the bottom bar, tap the + button, then choose Expense or Income.

Type the amount

The amount field opens the in-app calculator. Type 250+90+30 and tap = to fill β‚Ή370 instantly.

Pick a category

Choose from default categories like Food, Transport, Bills, Shopping, Health, Education β€” or create your own.

Choose payment mode

Cash, UPI, Bank Transfer, Credit Card, Debit Card or Cheque.

Add a note & party (optional)

Link to a party if it relates to a customer or supplier β€” that entry then appears in the party's history.

Attach a receipt photo

Tap the camera icon to capture from camera or pick from gallery.

Save

Tap Save. The dashboard updates immediately.

Categories β€” and how to customise them

Categories are split into Expense and Income groups so they don't clutter each other.

  • Default expense: Food, Transport, Bills, Shopping, Health, Education, Entertainment, Travel, Rent, Salary paid, Misc.
  • Default income: Salary, Freelance, Bonus, Rent received, Commission, Interest, Sales, Refund.
  • Customise: long-press any category to rename, change icon or color. Tap β€œ+ Add new” to create your own.

Payment modes

Payment modes connect cashbook entries to your Payment Accounts (Cash + Bank). When you choose a mode, the matching account balance updates automatically.

v2.0: If you have multiple bank accounts, the entry uses your primary account by default. You can change it in the entry sheet or in Payment Accounts.

Attach receipt photos

Tap the camera icon while creating or editing an entry. Stored photos can be:

  • Viewed full-screen by tapping the entry's preview thumbnail
  • Replaced anytime by re-attaching
  • Removed via the trash icon

The cashbook list

The Cashbook tab shows entries grouped by date with a daily total. The header summarises:

  • Total Income for the visible period
  • Total Expense for the visible period
  • Net Balance (income βˆ’ expense)

Filter & search

Tap the filter icon (top-right) to narrow down entries. You can combine:

  • Date range β€” today, week, month, year or custom
  • Type β€” expense, income, or both
  • Category β€” pick one or many
  • Payment mode β€” Cash, UPI, Card, etc.
  • Party β€” only entries linked to a specific customer or supplier

Use the search bar to find any entry by note, party name or amount.

Edit or delete an entry

Tap any entry to open it in detail mode. From there:

  • Edit β€” change any field; balance recalculates instantly
  • Duplicate β€” handy for recurring entries like rent
  • Delete β€” removes from cashbook; if linked to an invoice settlement, you'll be warned first
Pro tip: Use the duplicate option for monthly bills. Open last month's entry, duplicate, change date β€” done.
